What Is Carpal Tunnel?
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition of the hands that happens when a nerve becomes pinched or squeezed in the wrist. The affected nerve (inside of what is called the carpal tunnel) causes pain and sometimes numbness from the fingers to the hands to the wrists and sometimes all the way up the arms. If you put your palms up and look at your wrist, you can see where the carpal tunnel is located—it controls the movement of each of your fingers.
